KDAF exhibition 2012

Kincardine & Deeside Arts Forum is hosted its annual Art Competition and Exhibition  at the Milton gallery, Crathes, from 28th April to 13th May. There was a big turnout for the awards presentation last weekend when artist and lecturer John Berry handed out the prizes in his own indomitable  way.

Helen Jackson won the Lost Gallery Award with her ‘Baa Baa Birch Sheep’, Charlotte Randall won the Timmie Penny Young Artists Award with her ‘Matryoshka Fruit’, Anne Bellarby won the Larks Gallery Award with her ‘Bell Heather and Gorse’ in pastels and the 3D Award was won by Michael Recomio with ‘That Rosé went straight to my Head’.

Sadly, this will be the last event hosted by the Kincardine & Deeside Arts Forum. The Forum was founded in the autumn of 1993 and has been funded by Aberdeenshire Council since then to enable the promotion of the arts in south Aberdeenshire. Many individuals and groups have benefitted over the years from grants awarded by the group. Unfortunately the funding from the Council has come to an end and after the AGM in May the Forum will cease to exist. Mark Hope (KDAF Chair) thanked the many people who have helped on the Committee over the years with special mention of Norma Makin (who has been Treasurer and/or Secretary for 16 years) and Marie Shaw, Mindy Grewar and Barbara Macleod, Aberdeenshire’s Arts Development Officers who have steadfastly supported the Forum over the years.

It is hoped that the Competition and Exhibition will continue to take place under the auspices of another organisation.
